Jakarta, April 10, 2026 – Energy transformation is not only about technology, but also about building national industrial independence. This serves as the foundation for the cooperation between PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) and VOGO-ARSTROMA through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the development of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) solutions.
The signing, conducted by the Director of Coal Generation Operations of PLN Nusantara Power, M. Irwansyah Putra, alongside the CEO of VOGO-ARSTROMA, Kwon Jeong-sang, opens up massive opportunities for Indonesia to not only be a technology user but also a global-class producer of carbon solutions.
This collaboration encompasses the development of membrane-based carbon capture technology, the construction of pilot projects, and the potential establishment of a local manufacturing ecosystem with a high target for Local Content Requirement (TKDN).
The Director of Coal Generation Operations of PLN Nusantara Power, M. Irwansyah Putra, stated that this collaboration holds a broader strategic value beyond mere technology implementation.
"This memorandum of understanding is a crucial first step in building the foundation for long-term cooperation. It focuses not only on the technical aspects of decarbonization but also opens up opportunities for domestic industrial development through technology localization and national capacity building," Irwansyah explained.
He added that PLN Nusantara Power is committed to continuously driving innovations that not only impact emission reduction but also provide economic added value for Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the CEO of VOGO-ARSTROMA, Kwon Jeong-sang, emphasized the grand vision behind this collaboration.
"We see Indonesia not just as a market, but as a strategic partner to build the future carbon solution industry. Through this cooperation, we aim to build pilot plants, develop local production facilities, and ultimately establish Indonesia as an export hub for CCUS technology to the global market," said Kwon.
With technology that has been proven in various international projects, VOGO-ARSTROMA is optimistic that the implementation in Indonesia can progress rapidly and deliver tangible impacts.
Moving forward, this collaboration is expected to serve as a catalyst for the birth of a national carbon industry ecosystem, while strengthening Indonesia's position in the global clean energy supply chain and supporting the achievement of Net Zero Emissions by 2060.(*)
