Toward a Cleaner, Emission-Free Future
The Company consistently promotes emission reduction efforts across all power generation units. A reduction target has been set to achieve a carbon emission reduction of 0.805% or 2,381,260 tons CO₂e by 2024 through programs such as gasification, biomass co-firing, and renewable energy operations. Performance toward this target is analyzed through monthly monitoring and evaluation at the Performance Business Review (PBR) forum.
We manage the impact of waste generated from various business activities, including electricity production processes such as fossil fuel combustion and hazardous waste (B3) management. This also includes the use of chemicals like cleaners, lubricants, and coolants, as well as waste from maintenance and repair activities, such as rags, paint, and used batteries. Additionally, we oversee waste from processing activities, such as wastewater treatment and B3 management, ensuring responsible and sustainable handling.
Water is a vital element supporting the operations of Hydroelectric Power Plant and Coal Fired Power Plant. Water sourced from the sea and rivers is processed through desalination and demineralization to produce steam that drives the turbines. A closed-loop system ensures that no water is wasted, while cooling water is channeled back into the sea with controlled temperatures to avoid disrupting the ecosystem.

As part of its commitment to preservation, the Company runs the Water Source Protection (PERMATA) program in Paiton. This program focuses on protecting and rehabilitating water sources around the operational area. Key initiatives include reforestation in water catchment areas, the construction of infiltration wells, and the creation of erosion barriers to maintain water flow stability. The program also involves educating local communities on the importance of maintaining water sources and sustainability. Additionally, we collaborates with local institutions to monitor water quality and quantity, supporting broader conservation efforts.
