Aceh, December 22, 2025 – PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP), through its Arun Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG Arun), has played a key role in restoring electricity supply in Aceh following floods and landslides that affected several areas in late November. PLTMG Arun is now operating at full capacity, providing renewed hope for affected communities and vital sectors. A major milestone in the recovery process was also marked by the resumption of operations at the Nagan Raya Steam Power Plant (PLTU Nagan Raya), ensuring optimal electricity distribution to all substations across Aceh.
Located in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, PLTMG Arun has worked intensively to restore power supply to various regions, including Banda Aceh and surrounding areas, which previously experienced significant disruptions due to the disaster. As of Sunday (December 21), the Arun Generation Unit has been supplying up to 173 megawatts (MW) and is operating fully to support electricity needs for households, public services, and other social sectors.
President Director of PLN Nusantara Power, Ruly Firmansyah, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring reliable electricity supply for the people of Aceh.
“The resumption of operations at PLTMG Arun and PLTU Nagan Raya is crucial in this recovery phase. Following the disaster, our focus has been on restoring stable electricity supply to the people of Aceh, particularly for vital sectors. Through the hard work and coordination of our operations, transmission, and distribution teams, we have been able to restore the electricity flow that is essential for the community,” said Ruly.
Meanwhile, PLTU Nagan Raya, located in Suak Puntong Village, Kuala Pesisir Sub-district, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, serves as one of the main pillars of Aceh’s power supply system. With a capacity of approximately 2 x 110 MW, the plant plays a vital role in maintaining the reliability of the regional electricity system.
Ruly further emphasized that despite the considerable challenges faced, particularly in restoring power generation infrastructure, PLN Nusantara Power remains committed to maintaining the reliability of Aceh’s electricity system.
“We are not only restoring the electricity system, but also helping to restore the lives of affected communities. We will continue to ensure that electricity supply remains stable while optimizing the capacity of PLTMG Arun and PLTU Nagan Raya,” Ruly added.
PLTMG Arun will continue to operate while closely monitoring conditions and electricity demand in Aceh, accelerating post-disaster recovery efforts. PLN NP also ensures that every operational step is carried out safely and in a controlled manner to prevent further disruptions to the electricity system that is crucial for the community.
“One of our affected units is the Cot Trueng Diesel Power Plant, located approximately 18 kilometers from the Arun Generation Unit. We are currently carrying out cleanup activities and pursuing recovery efforts so that electricity generation can resume,” Ruly added.
