Jakarta, February 16, 2026 — PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) has once again achieved an international milestone through its subsidiary, PT PLN Nusantara Power Construction (PLN NPC), with the successful completion of the energized project for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Feeder Station (FS) 01 in Tunjung, Kelantan, Malaysia. The project was completed on January 15, 2026, 15 days ahead of its original target of January 31, 2026.
This early completion received appreciation from Tenaga Switchgear (TSG) as the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) as the network owner. This success marks an important milestone for the PLN NP Group in expanding its presence in international markets, particularly in sustainable transportation infrastructure electrification projects.
President Director of PLN Nusantara Power, Ruly Firmansyah, emphasized that this achievement demonstrates the global competence of Indonesian talent.
“The success of the ECRL project shows that PLN Nusantara Power’s engineering and power construction capabilities have met international standards. Completing the project ahead of schedule is proof that Indonesian companies are capable of competing and earning trust in strategic cross-border projects. This is not only a business achievement, but also a source of national pride,” said Ruly.
Meanwhile, President Director of PLN NPC, Djarot Hutabri, stated that this project is PLN NPC’s first overseas project and serves as the foundation for the company’s global expansion.
“This achievement reflects the capability, professionalism, and commitment of all PLN NPC personnel in delivering reliable, timely, and globally standardized power construction services. The appreciation from TSG and TNB is proof that we are able to provide added value to our strategic partners,” said Djarot.
In this project, PLN NPC carried out the design and build works for the electrification of the ECRL Feeder Station, which included the construction of a 132 kV Switching Station, the installation of a 3-kilometer Overhead Transmission Line (OHL) and Underground Cable, as well as other supporting works. The project forms part of the electrification system for the 665-kilometer double-track railway connecting Port Klang in Selangor to Kota Bharu in Kelantan.
ECRL is an electric railway project that fully relies on electricity for both passenger and cargo operations. Once operational in 2027, the network is projected to reduce carbon emissions by up to one million tons of CO? per year, while also strengthening connectivity between the East Coast and the central region of Peninsular Malaysia.
As part of the EPCC consortium, PLN NP played a role in procuring the main equipment, while PLN NPC executed the construction and commissioning works. The project has been underway since June 2024 and is targeted for full completion in 2026.
With more than 20 years of experience in the fields of generation and transmission, PLN NPC delivers comprehensive EPC solutions ranging from power plants, transmission systems, and substations to reliability enhancement programs (Availability Improvement Program). Its green energy portfolio, which includes hydropower, geothermal, and solar energy, further strengthens the position of the PLN NP Group in supporting the regional energy transition and ESG agenda.
The success of the ECRL project serves as a strategic stepping stone for PLN Nusantara Power to further expand its international project portfolio and strengthen its position as a competitive, reliable, and globally capable partner in power construction. (*)
